Rules of Engagement

We are going into this campaign with the understanding that we will encounter trolls. Political trolls are skilled and determined propagandists. Their strategy is to draw a response from public figures. They know that when public figures engage with abusive trolls to defend their reputation or their values - a normal behavioral response - this inadvertently spreads and legitimates the trolls' message and tricks social media algorithms into pushing it to a broader array of users' timelines. We would like both our audience and detractors to know we are playing quite a different game. We are petty and enjoy the online foolishness. We are going to enter these discussions without a 'win' or 'lose' mindset because, like them, we also want our ideas to be heard by as many potential supporters as possible.

Early life and education

Sherman is a native of New York, NY. They were born Jasmine SHerman, to parents Amanda and Thomas, the first of two children. Their parents worked labor and customer service jobs.  Jasmine graduated from Northbridge high school in 2003. They earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from the University of Phoenix. They have a masters degree in Finance from University of Phoenix.

Early career

Jasmine Sherman is currently Executive Director of Greater Charlotte Rise, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to immediate housing relief in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. They experienced poverty and the foster care system firsthand. Jasmine put themself through school and has since experienced the world, living abroad. They returned to the U.S. determined to make a difference and with both knowledge and experience of both the benefits and pitfalls of other systems. They’ve combined their passion for social justice with their audacious attitude to create a new political party, the Unicorn Party, dedicated to cutting through the political rhetoric to enact critical policy. Their background in housing gives them a unique perspective amongst presidential candidates, having seen, worked with, and built personal relationships with the most vulnerable in our society. Their goal, put simply, is to simplify. Common sense policies and a penchant for pettiness make them ideal for the current political climate, one in which both style and substance are sorely lacking. Jasmine believes the promise of America has not been fulfilled . . . yet. Jasmine and their cadre of like-minded partners are ready to lead this country to a better future, one that works for all.

Political Views

Jasmine Sherman wants to help the at-risk and vulnerable communities by providing Guaranteed housing, Landback, Universal basic income, Free Education, and Universal healthcare, for all.  They also believe in the rights of the child, the rights to gender affirming care, ending the disability restrictions, restorative justice, abolishing the police, abolishing prisons, triple bottom line accountability for corporations, reparations, a progressive tax, an index living wage, immigration policy reform, sustainable energy, decriminalizing all drugs and sex work, age caps and term limits for all elected officials, and rewriting the constitution.

Campaign Strategies

They are using social media and technology to get things going. They aren’t running their campaign in a traditional way. This is the first political party making it 100 percent accessible to the general public and being transparent. Think TMZ meets The Office, but as a tech start up for politics. So meetings/events are less of a Civics 101 and more of a Revolution 101 crash course. Aside from remaining within the legal system the strategy is to not follow the rules of your typical political campaign. Not funding wise, not staffing wise, and not even policy wise. Offering a full transparency product. This campaign is about including and amplifying the voices of the people. Regular, every day, working class citizens, ready to come together and support a common cause of growing this country forward. They’re teaching people to start reaching people.

As part of the strategy, they are supporting any willing progressive candidate via the newly formed Unicorn Party.

Campaign Finance

The campaign has the moral high ground because Sherman is not beholden to special interests since they shun super PACs and sidesteps the influence of mega donors. They are asking for small-dollar sums and renouncing super PACs. It has also been extremely effective. The campaign has even started Jasmine Sherman's national mutual aid network is already a success.

"People need help, and I'm not about to wait to be elected to get them that help," the presidential candidate said, and they meant it. Since August, Jasmine's mutual aid network has lifted people out of food insecurity, prevented utilities from being shut off, funded necessities like mobility aids, and more.

Sherman's mutual aid lists are currently circulating TikTok and other social media, collecting donations and uniting a national community. Any cashapp that gets shared with the mutual aid will be put on the list. Sharing your story and reasons for needing aid are optional. "If I'm not your cup of tea, don't vote for me. We could loath one another, I don't care, I still want you to be able to eat."

News Events from the Campaign

Events occur daily online and are open to the general public.

Opinion-Poll results

Americans' desire for a third party has ticked up since last fall and now sits at a high in Gallup's trend. Sixty-two percent of U.S. adults say the "parties do such a poor job representing the American people that a third party is needed," an increase from 57% in September. Support for a third party has been elevated in recent years, including readings of 60% in 2013 and 2015 and 61% in 2017.

Meanwhile, 33% of Americans believe the two major political parties are doing an adequate job representing the public, the smallest percentage expressing this view apart from the 26% reading in October 2013.

Mutual Aid Career

Greater Charlotte Rise (GCR) is a non-profit mutual aid. Mutual aid is an idea and practice that is based on the principles of direct action, cooperation, mutual understanding, and solidarity. Mutual aid is not charity, but the building and continuing of new social relations where people give what they can and get what they need, outside of unjust systems of power.

Our team is focused on helping all members of our community including men, women, children, non-binary, trans-folk, and families. GCR is committed to meeting people where they are. This does not exclude those on journeys that could potentially include addiction, sobriety, or returning citizens.

"I'm not afraid to admit it, part of it's selfish. I want to help melanated people because I'm Black, I want to help LGBTQ people because I'm queer, I want to help women because I relate to women, I want to help the oppressed because I've known oppression."
